CASE STUDY - AUSTIN 7 SPECIAL
Creating Race Specific Shock Absorbers
We were approached by the owner of this Austin 7 Special race car to develop a set of shocks, arms and housing to improve the handling of this car in readiness for a number of significant races.
Bespoke Design
The standard ROTOSHIM shock was designed to fit as a direct replacement for a stock product, but on this Special the arms and frame had to be specifically designed, to be lightweight but also provide the correct damping at a new arm length.
Testing and fine tuning
Using specialist vehicle dynamics we were able to adjust the damping, with the arm lever, to the specific requirements of this race car. A series of adjustments and fine tuning was made before we got the right result.
The final outcome
The customer was very pleased with the final outcome and the impact of the shocks on the race performance. Beating track records and picking up 1st place positions were a perfect result at the end of this project.
